Wegagen Bank launched Payment Card Services!
An icebreaker in applying state-of-the-art core banking technology in the year 2000, Wegagen
Bank now introduced Payment Card Banking Services to the financial market of Ethiopia. In order to
quench the thirst of modern banking and thereby realize excellence in customer services, we have
now commenced issuance of Agar Visa Cards.Our Agar Visa allows to access own account 24 hours
a day, seven days a week. By swiping a plastic card, one can now get rid of the risk of carrying cash
and the inconvenience of using checks. Moreover, it enables to do withdrawals and a host of other
activities at any time of the day or.To have an access to this service, the only thing needed is
opening an account for those who don’t have any at any one of our Branches and apply for Agar Visa
Card.
We are also glad to inform that our ATM network accepts any Visa International Cards. Very
soon, we will start deployment of POS terminals at Merchant sites.This new product line enables
customers to bank round the clock, feel at ease and discover the difference of our reliable, convenient
and secure services.To date, a total of 27 ATMs have been deployed in Addis Ababa at own
branches, some of the hotels and at Bole International Airport. Within the coming few months, more
will also be deployed in Addis Ababa and major Regional Cities.
Technology Associates (TA), a Kenyan based company, is the solution integrator of the whole
system. The system mainly comprises of Wincor ATMs from Germany, Card Management
System from Tieto, which is a Finnish based company, Verifone POS terminals from US and card
printer from the global leader Datacard of US. Each of the components is the world best in their
respective product category and among the latest technology available worldwide in the card banking
industry. The Bank has invested multi million Birr and committed every resource needful for making of
this venture a success. The Bank is also implementing an advanced, versatile and ISO standard Core
Banking Solution as well as Internet Banking,SMS Banking, Credit Management System and Anti-
Money Laundering packages. Upon completion of the project, the services to be availed as a result
shall be changing the service landscape of the Bank.
